  4.amend是正式用語,含有改造人或法規(guī)的缺陷與不足之意。例如:

  The regulations are amended.這些規(guī)則被修正了。
  5.patch指用一塊材料把有洞的地方、有裂痕的地方、被穿破的地方貼起來。例如:
  The workman patched the ceiling.工人修補(bǔ)了天花板。
  This piece of material is just right to patch the roof.這塊材料正好可用來補(bǔ)屋頂。

• correct，rectify，remedy，revise，amend

  correct指糾正或改正不正確、不真實(shí)或有缺點(diǎn)的東西。
  rectify正式用詞，意義較抽象，側(cè)重指徹底改正偏離正確標(biāo)準(zhǔn)或規(guī)則的東西。
  remedy正式用詞，通常指在局部范圍內(nèi)進(jìn)行糾正，尤指對困難或棘手問題的解決。
  revise指通過仔細(xì)閱讀、反復(fù)思考后而進(jìn)行改正、訂正或修訂，使趨于完善。
